Assam is an Indian state located in the north-east of India and is home to almost half of India’s tea production. The largest contiguous tea-growing areas in the world are located here and this tea of the same name comes from there. The infusion has a dark brown copper colour with a slightly sweet aroma of wet wood and malt. The flavour is full-bodied, strong, slightly bitter and with a fine texture. Assam tea is also ideal for tea blends. It can be found as the main ingredient in the well-known East Frisian tea and in the even better-known English Breakfast tea blend.
